East Horsley Bowling Club was formed in 1976 and is a combined mens and ladies club. The Green and Clubhouse were built as a part of the St Martin’s Court development. It is a lovely sheltered location where you can either play or just watch.
Since our formation our club has developed its facilities, the depth and breath of its membership as well as the range matches members can participate in.
We play over 50 friendly matches against neighbouring clubs throughout the season. Most of these are mixed matched but some are mens and others are ladies matches. Matches are usually three or four rinks of triples, which enables new or inexperience bowlers participate and gain experience in a friendly environment.
The Club also enters teams in a number of local competitions. These are for the more experienced bowler. In 2011 our teams were very successful winning the Harding Cup andfinishing second out of eleven clubs in the Knaphill Thursday Triples league.
The club runs a number of internal competitions. Besides the usual singles and pairs competitions there are two for the more inexperienced bowler. The Rogers Trophy is a handicap competition whilst the Wilton Trophy is only open to players who have not won one of the club competitions. Our competitions run throughout the season apart from the Two Wood competition, which takes place in early June, and the end of season September Cup.
Our Monday afternoonroll ups are very popular and offer the opportunity to meet fellow members, improve your shills or just have a chat. We also providefacilities for the Horsley U3A to play bowls and reserve two rinks for them ona Monday afternoon.
