The 2012 bowling season will open on Saturday 28th April and the first friendly match is the following day commencing at 2.30pm.
We welcome new members of any age from teen upward. You will see from the Fixtures section when our home matches will be played and as our green is open with seating around you are welcome to come along and watch at any time.
We offer a free introduction to the game and can supply special shoes and bowls for you to use. To arrange a convenient time please phone one of the club officers listed on this site or come along to the club any Monday afternoon from 2.30 to talk to members who have turned up for an informal roll up.
The membership fee for 2012 is just £85 for an adult playing member with reduced rates for students and social members.
We play over fifty friendly matches against neighbouring clubs through the season, mostly mixed but some mens matches and some ladies matches. These are against clubs such as Byfleet, Woking Park, Horsell, Merrow and Burpham. These matches are usually teams of three, or Triples and enable inexperienced players to blend in and gain experience in a friendly and informal environment. A match will normally comprise four triples from each club with tea taken half way through the game. All players are given a chance to play in these matches.
We were very successful in 2011, winning the Harding Cup competition between five clubs in the area and also finishing a close second in the Knaphill Thursday Triples League with ten teams competing. These matches provide an opportunity to play against some of the better players from other clubs.
Two of our men won the West Surrey Mens Pairs competition and played for the area team. This level offers good players even tougher competition and higher levels still are open to club members if they wish.
The club also holds internal competitions every year in which new members are encouraged to take part and this is a good way of judging your progress as well as providing the opportunity to play with more experienced players in competitions where your partner is drawn for you at random.
